I’ve known for many years that life is about love–and it’s the magic formula for creating a joyful life.

I discovered the “lesson of love” after watching my mother struggle to recover from an illness requiring a respirator, feeding tube, i.v. and many other medical devices to keep her alive.

Each of my siblings and I had our own “issues” with our mother. The fabric of our relationships with her included soft, warm threads of love and admiration, seething, bright threads of anger and frustration, and thin, fragile threads of  insecurity, woven together into a tapestry unique to each of us.  But as we hovered around her hospital bed, praying and willing her to live, we were connected and enveloped in a thick blanket woven only of love’s gleaming fiber.

Mom survived, and as I looked out the airplane window on my way home a few days later, I recognized that life is about love; loving yourself, each other and our beautiful planet Earth.

Love is the most powerful force in the Universe and everything we do is based on our perception of having it or lacking it.

Love for each other reconnects us after hurtful exchanges; love for ourselves sustains us when others abandon us; love for our world motivates us to nurture and protect it.

And the magic? It’s the limitless wellspring of love inside each and every one of us.  We ARE love. It’s our heart, our spirit, our soul, our core, our very essence. It’s the gift we give to ourselves and each other that makes our lives deliciously fun and joyful.
