Welcome! If you’re reading this blog you’re most likely wondering who I am and why I started writing it.
I’m a spirited and spiritual human being, on an endless journey to understand and thrive in this crazy existence on earth, which can be confusing, scary and frustrating, while also delicious, fulfilling and magical.
My experiences so far include enjoying life as a consultant, mom, “glamma”, writer, daughter, (amateur) chef, sister, auntie, cousin, friend, secretary, runner, swimmer, gardener, home repair expert, traveler, ocean lover…and more I haven’t yet even imagined.
I started this blog to share my personal message, which I hope resonates with others throughout the world, those who already “know” it in their hearts, as I always have in mine.
My message is this: life is about love; loving ourselves, each other and our planet earth. This knowing crystallized for me while watching my mother struggle to survive a serious illness. But I “knew” it way before that day.
I was born happy and smiling, according to my parents, full of giggles, with a dimpled smile. I remember schoolmates telling me I always seemed happy, never depressed or cranky. And that was true, for the most part–I didn’t experience those feelings.
But what I DID feel was worry, lots and lots of worry–now popularly known as anxiety–that life and the world weren’t safe and I always had to be alert for something going wrong.
This horrible emotion plagued me throughout my life, resulting in some difficult, painful experiences and preventing me from having the happy, fulfilling, joyous life I knew, even as a child, I was supposed to have.
After many years traveling a sometimes bumpy road that included therapy, medication (which once landed me in the hospital because I was given too much and the wrong medication!), self-help programs, soul searching, coaching and eliminating the negative, fearful thoughts I thought without thinking–the pre-programmed thoughts that are as automatic as breathing in and out–I’ve regained my joyful, optimistic, positive self, and my “knowing” that life is about love and is supposed to be fun, and that all truly is well, everything always works out and life is exactly the way it’s meant to be.
And the most difficult and severe twists and turns on my bumpy road taught me the most and brought me to the very best places. It’s really true that every cloud has a silver lining, you just have to watch for it!
At times I experience the same concerns that everyone has: health, relationships, money, work. But then I remember what I “know” and use the magic formula to reduce those worries and continue living the happy joyful life that gets better all the time.
The magic formula is simple–it’s sinking into the quiet stillness of your heart and soul and connecting to your true essence of love, the love that is inside each and every one of us.
I don’t mean the self-love you hear about in psychological circles, although that’s certainly part of it. I mean the tender, deep, all-encompassing spiritual love that lives within us at all times. The love that can soothe and comfort you when you’re sick with worry about a loved one, or how to make this month’s bills, or if that nagging pain in your belly is a dread disease.
Is it love from a higher source, love of self, a connection to the Universe? Regardless of what you believe is the source, it nurtures, calms, strengthens and empowers all of us when we tap into it.
I found this love by engaging with positive, uplifting people; by studying and adopting spiritual beliefs that aligned with my authentic nature of loving kindness; I received it from encouraging, supportive friends and family; I experienced it in the pleasures of exercise, music, art and food; and I can always access it through meditative practices that gently guide me into the sanctuary of my soul, to renew, replenish and uplift my heart.
In this blog I’ll share my journey with you, from traumas and tragedies to joy and tranquility. I’m honored you’re here and excited to share the lessons I’ve learned and magic I’ve found along the way. I guarantee they’ll make your own journey smoother during the rough times and your life more delightful overall.
